Associated Fire Protection

A portable fire extinguisher should only be used when the fire encompasses a small area and is not growing. With that in mind, when using the extinguisher, you need only remember the word PASS.

P - Pull the pin, holding the extinguisher with the nozzle pointing away from you.
A - Aim low. Aim the extinguisher at the lowest point of the fire.
S - Squeeze the lever at an even pressure.
S - Sweep the nozzle from side to side.

Remember that a fire extinguisher should only be used on a fire that is small and steady. If the fire is growing rapidly and is out of control, let the fire fighters take over and get your family out to safety.
